Compared to you I’m …

Compared To You I’m….

How many times a day do you compare yourself to someone?

“But they are doing so much better than I am.”
“They are thinner/fatter than me.”
“My house/car/bank account is bigger/smaller than mine.”

Or a really dangerous one “Well at least I’m not as bad as so and so” perfect for convincing yourself your habit isn’t really that much of an issue, because so and so is far worse than you.

Constantly judging our own self-worth against someone’s progress, body or possessions is the quickest way to feel inadequate.

We are all on our own journeys.

Just because you are heading in the same direction as someone doesn’t mean you will be going at the same speed.

It is one of the most dis-empowering things we can do… and I see it a lot!

“They are all doing so well, why won’t it work for me?”
“But she is losing much more weight than me, I am such a failure.”

When you think like that, what do you feel like?
Pretty crappy, right?

Now you want to change your current state and make yourself feel better,
because feeling inadequate is crappy, yes?

So it’s back to the biscuits for a quick fix to feel better for a moment.

You are now in “Sod It” mode.
(we actually call it something a little “bluer” than that on Slim From Within ;0))

It’s all to do with your attitude

(Or mindless social media scrolling – the crack cocaine of comparison!)

Concentrating on YOUR “wins” i.e., the gains that you are making, however small, will shift your outlook.

Your subconscious thoughts and feelings will be more positive, affecting your actions and when it comes to results, it is all about the action!

Our decisions and subsequent actions all stem from our thoughts…
Think crap, feel crap, eat crap is a pretty common loop many people can find themselves in.

But it could easily be,

Think positive, feel better, eat better!

It might not happen overnight, clients can really struggle with this at first, but over time the brain starts to rewire, and the programming begins to change!

So next time turn it around.
Compare yourself to yourself.

Maybe you are doing a little bit better today than you were yesterday or last week?

What ARE you winning at?

What are YOU doing well at?

One thing coaching has taught me is we all have our s**t, no-one gets away scot free, so looking over the fence is pointless.

They aren’t you; they are on their own journey and you are on yours!

Concentrate on that and you’ll go far!
